I wanted a dessert for the 4th of July that would be simple and easy to make and this recipe was perfect. They're are so deliciously cute! Almost too cute to eat. Almost...! Hillbilly Ramblin' s Strawberry ~Brownie Shortcake in a Jar 1 Sara Lee pound cake 1 1/2 ~2 pints of fresh strawberries 4 or 5 Brownies (crumbled in small pieces) Reddi Wip in a can (whipped cream) sugar (no certain amount, just to your taste) 4-6 half~ pint Mason jars Instructions: *Wash and dry strawberries, then choose 4 or 6 of the prettiest, medium~size ones and set aside. Cut the remaining strawberries into small pieces. In a large bowl sprinkle strawberries with sugar to your taste and gently mix. Set aside for later. *Cut out rounds of pound cake (about 1/3 inch slices). Crumble brownies into small pieces. *Start your assembly line of jars: add one cake round to each jar add a layer of strawberries add a sprinkle of the brownies add a layer of whipped cream *Add another layer of rounds on top of the cool whip, pressing lightly to compress the layers. Just don't press too hard or it'll get all mushified. Mushified ain't a word but, you know what I mean :) *Then add another layer of strawberries, brownies and whipped cream and finally another layer of strawberries. * Add your final layer of whipped cream on top *Place in refrigerator until ready to use. When you are ready to serve these delish jars of heaven, slice up those strawberries you set aside at the beginning to use as a garnish on top. You can slice into individual slices or slice and place on the rim of the jar... OR you can make a strawberry "fan". To make the strawberry fans, take a sharp paring knife, cut 5-7 slices the length of the strawberry...don't cut all the way through at the top of the berry though, that needs to be intact for the berry to "fan". You want to stop cutting just before you reach the "cap" of the berry. At the top of the berry, lay your knife flat and gently press down to spread or "fan" the berry. Gently lay the strawberry fan on top of the cool whip. For mine, I slit the strawberry at the bottom and placed it on the rim of the jar. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did...it was delish! A heartfelt thank you to all the veterans out there and their families. The sacrifices you've made are what helped make this beautiful country of ours! Have a wonderful 4th of July! Be good and be pretty... and as always... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ |
