Hubby has recently had quite a few doctor and dentist appointments lately. Now to add to that list, he has to go see an eye doctor about a problem he's been having. He and his mother, Jan, have the same eye doctor and when he was telling her that he was going to go see him, she wanted him to make her an appointment as well. Since their appointments are back~to~back, they decided to go together. His mother recently remarried and moved about 2 hours (or more) away. It's a long drive down here so she and her hubby, Jerry decided they would drive down the day before and just stay the night with us. They ended up calling in a pizza for supper from Geno's in LIvermore (delish!! For my local peeps, If you've never had one, you've GOT to get one!) Geno's is my all~time fave pizza place! Anyways, I got distracted there about the pizza ....but later, Jan took her shoe off and was complaining about her foot itching on top. Tim said, "Mom, there some anti~itch cream in that first drawer if you want to use it." She goes and gets the cream out of the drawer. I noticed her reading on the label (old habits die hard, she used to be a nurse). On the label it has the big long "medical" name on it. She looks up with a confused look on her face and says, "Tim, why in the world are you putting vaginal cream on your feet." WHAT??? Vaginal cream??!! To say I laughed would have been the understatement of the year. I hooted and I hollered and then I laughed some more. And I'm STILL laughing. He's a big "macho~man" type of guy and just his look of sheer, utter shock was simply PRICELESS!! It'll be a long time before I get a laugh like that again and I was gonna enjoy every bit of it. Trust me when I say, I won't let him live it down anytime soon. The reason for the cream, may surprise you but it was NOT mine! While he was in Iraq, he started having trouble with his feet. So the doctors over there prescribed him some "ointment" to help. He came back home with one of his duffel bags proudly loaded down with all these little boxes of "ointment". hehe....sorry, STILL laughing here. He probably has like 3 or 4 tubes left but something tells me he'll never use THAT stuff again. Thanks for stopping by! Be good and be pretty and as always... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ In 2014, Morgan Davis, a young girl from Bremen, Kentucky had an idea that would literally change her life and the lives of the people around her. Morgan would soon be celebrating her 13th birthday but....as I mentioned, she had an idea. Morgan decided instead of the usual birthday party that most kids her age expect, she decided she wanted to make a change...she wanted to make a difference. And did she ever! Morgan gave up her birthday so that she could help others in need. Thus, Mission 13 was born! Her upcoming 13th birthday party would soon escalate into something that even she had never even dared to hope for. She has inspired so many in her community and beyond. And it's my hope that she will inspire YOU. Here is a letter Morgan wrote for a newspaper article recently that I'd like you all to read: "As the new year begins, so does the start for Mission 13. For those of you who may not know about Mission 13, let me tell you about it. My name is Morgan Davis, I am in the 8th grade. When I was 12, the Lord really dealt with my heart to do something memorable and something special for my 13th birthday. Not knowing God's plan for my life, he let me experience something great and wonderful. He allowed me to go to my church youth, Temple Baptist, to serve Thanksgiving dinner that year at the Nashville Rescue Mission (www.Nashvillerescuemission.org), a Christ~centered life recovery and homeless shelter. The rescue mission is all donated and all volunteer. No government assistance. They serve over 2,000 meals per week, 365 days per year. I knew that this was the plan for my special day, so I planned to donate all my birthday and every birthday, to helping others in need. So I created Mission 13. I will keep the name to remember where God started his big plans for my life in helping others. We received so many donations through my birthday plan and so much support from so many people and churches in the community. I was overwhelmed with the amount of clothing, food and so much more. My mission work is 100 percent donated to Nashville Rescue Mission. This is all non~profit, donated work. I ask nothing for myself. This year we ask each and every one of you to help in any way you can. Get your friends, families, churches, businesses, youth groups or anyone else involved in making a difference for someone in need or someone hurting. We take all clothing, new and used, food, shoes, blankets, baby items, OTC meds, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, toiletries and snacks to make blessing bags. You can join us on Feb. 20th at 5:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church to fellowship and donate. Volunteers are welcome. We will go to the Rescue mission on Feb. 21st to make our donation. Anyone is welcome to join us and experience this amazing place. Join me in feeding the hungry, restoring hope and making a difference. Remember, the more we get, the more we can give. For any questions, you may contact Mission 13 through Facebook or contact us by call or text at (270) 977~1301. Thanks and may God bless each and everyone that has made this vision come true." Morgan What an amazing letter by an amazing young girl! Morgan's plan for Mission 13 started with a few mentions on Facebook, people began talking about it in churches around the community and she was interviewed by the local newspaper. People were clamoring to help, as she mentioned in her letter, sending her food, clothing and other items that were so desperately needed for the Rescue Mission. Gorgeous T~shirts were designed and printed courtesy of Central Screen Printing Party Time!! The big day has finally arrived and the whole community was invited to come out and share it with Morgan. The room quickly filled up as more and more people stopped in to wish Morgan a happy birthday and drop off their donations for Mission 13. After that....it was delivery day as they headed on to Nashville to the Nashville Rescue Mission! It was a day filled with lots of smiles and tears.... and many thanks!! To say that Muhlenburg County is proud of her is an understatement. KENTUCKY is proud of her !! And I believe that this girl will touch many, many more lives in the years to come because Mission 13...is just getting STARTED.
Thanks for stopping by and letting Morgan and I share her story with you all! Leave her a comment to show your support for her and visit her page, Mission 13 on Facebook and give her a "LIKE" !! I've never asked any of you to "SHARE" any of my blog postings but I am now, for Morgan. Please share her story on your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest...anyway you can. Let the world know how great she is. Let HER know how great she is. Be good and be pretty and as always.... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ It's a strange feeling knowing that in less than a week I'll be turning 50. I expected it to be a dramatic, turbulent, kicking~ ~and ~screaming~ all ~the ~way ~to~ the~ last ~day kind of transition. But it hasn't been like that. I mean, don't get me wrong, if I had my choice I'd rather be 30 instead of 50, but that's only because of all the wrinkles. And the bags under my eyes. Other than that, 50 ain't really looking all that bad. Well, except the back ache and knee aches. Oh, and the vision loss. I remember picking up a phone book a couple of years ago and the print was SO small I couldn't even read it. I turned to Hubby exasperated and asked "WHY did they start printing this stuff smaller??! Don't they realize OLD people aren't even gonna be able to SEE this now"???!! (that's me...the champion for all SENIOR CITIZENS) :) Then it hit me...I was fast approaching that category of "old people" and there was no stopping it. Hubby had quite a laugh at the look on my face as this realization slowly began to sink in and he took great pleasure in telling me that the print was the same size as it's always been, it was just my eyesight going bad. So yeah, that part DOES suck but other than that.... But by age 50, I've reached that point in my life where I can truly appreciate all the fond memories,,,,,errr...fond memories of...what was I saying?? Oh yeah! Now I remember!....Fond memories of the past! . Most of them anyway. Past loves, past childhood adventures and All the drama of the teen years, LONG gone (Thank goodness!). The agonies of my 20's didn't defeat me after all like I thought it would at the time. The 30's were the "molding" years, taking everything and trying to sort it all out.... what works and what wasn't working in my life. And trying to grow from it. The 40's were good, except for the "empty nest", I HATED that and always will...but other than that no complaints. My 40's were like "I'll do what I WANT to do" and I did AND I liked it and plan to carry that one over into the 50's with me! With the big 5~0 looking me dead in the eyes, I can't help but wonder what it will bring. I honestly think it's gonna be pretty good. I had planned to hit 50 gloriously and with quiet dignity. But as I mentioned earlier, the wrinkles and bags kinda messed that plan up. But at 50, like the saying goes..."aging is just another word for growing and I've finally ...at last, grown into the person I was always meant to be." Thanks for stopping by, I hope your day is a good one!
