Hubby finally finished my "big surprise" that I was telling y'all about in a previous post http://hillbillyramblin.weebly.com/blog/honeyim-home . And all I can say is, I love it! I wanted an old rustic farmhouse~type table that was long and narrow and could sit a lot of people and this will comfortably sit about 10 people. The table is 96 inches long and 32 inches wide...plenty big enough for us. No more dragging out the long, ugly brown metal table whenever we have a dinner for more than 6 people. We were looking online for the type of legs for the table but couldn't find what I really wanted. Then suddenly I had a simply mah~vel~ous idea... (Don't you love it when that happens?) We had a 4 poster bed in our spare bedroom that we had talked about getting rid of anyway, so I came up with the idea to use the 4 posters on the bed as our table legs and they worked out great. It's by no means perfect but it is to me and I LOVE him for making it for me. ღ Thanks for stopping by and I hope y'all enjoyed it! Be good and be pretty and as always... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ Honey, I'm home!! By coming home earlier than expected, it appears that I ruined a couple of surprises Hubby had for me. (I had been at Ma's helping her with her yard work and had planned to spend a couple of days with her.) The "big" surprise isn't finished yet, it's still a work in progress, so to speak. But I will say that I already LOVE it! His OTHER surprise was this adorable sign he made. Yep...I love it! :) He's still working on the "big" surprise.... I can't wait to show it to you in a few days when it's finished.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Be good and be pretty and as always... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ Be good and be pretty
and as always... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ When I turned 50, I decided to age gracefully, to let my hair take on its own natural color. I don't mind the gray... After all, it's natural highlights..right? Others must not be of the same opinion though. My grandson asked me months ago, what that big gray spot on top of my head was. Curiosity soon had me in front of the bathroom mirror, with my glasses on, to see what he was referring to. It didn't take me long to find out. A huge patch of gray, sitting right on the top of my head. Funny how I never noticed it before. Then in that same visit, my son tells me... "Mom, you really need to dye your hair." Shocked that now 2 people in the same day had mentioned my hair and it's...grayness, I snapped back, "Shaduppppppp!! I'm aging gracefully!! (Bless his heart, he hasn't mentioned it since.) Now fast forward to a few days later... Tim is in Walmart picking up a few things and comes home with all kinds of goodies. My fave chips, (Lay's Classics), Reese's Cups (YUM!), some craft paint... and hair color? Looking up in genuine surprise, I asked him, " Are you dyeing your hair??!" "No! I got it for YOU" he said. That Reese's Cup...it didn't even make it to nightfall (and might I add it was delish !) The craft paint... I've been using it on all kinds of cute crafty stuff. The chips...they only lasted a few days. But 9 days later... the box of hair color still sat on the kitchen table. And a few days after that, .Hubby places it on top of my computer monitor...a kindly reminder for me to use it, I suppose? I started to wonder what happened...Something must have went horribly wrong because I thought I was aging gracefully? I guess not as gracefully as I had hoped. It sat on my desk for a while, then we get a phone call from his mom and her new hubby, inviting us to come for a visit (she lives a few hours away)...So I guess I'll just save it and do my hair a few days before we go visit them... After all, he did get the right color. Thanks for stopping by! Please check out my new Facebook page here

They're are so deliciously cute! Almost too cute to eat. Almost...! Hillbilly Ramblin' s Strawberry ~Brownie Shortcake in a Jar 1 Sara Lee pound cake 1 1/2 ~2 pints of fresh strawberries 4 or 5 Brownies (crumbled in small pieces) Reddi Wip in a can (whipped cream) sugar (no certain amount, just to your taste) 4-6 half~ pint Mason jars Instructions: *Wash and dry strawberries, then choose 4 or 6 of the prettiest, medium~size ones and set aside. Cut the remaining strawberries into small pieces. In a large bowl sprinkle strawberries with sugar to your taste and gently mix. Set aside for later. *Cut out rounds of pound cake (about 1/3 inch slices). Crumble brownies into small pieces. *Start your assembly line of jars: add one cake round to each jar add a layer of strawberries add a sprinkle of the brownies add a layer of whipped cream *Add another layer of rounds on top of the cool whip, pressing lightly to compress the layers. Just don't press too hard or it'll get all mushified. Mushified ain't a word but, you know what I mean :) *Then add another layer of strawberries, brownies and whipped cream and finally another layer of strawberries. * Add your final layer of whipped cream on top *Place in refrigerator until ready to use. When you are ready to serve these delish jars of heaven, slice up those strawberries you set aside at the beginning to use as a garnish on top. You can slice into individual slices or slice and place on the rim of the jar... OR you can make a strawberry "fan". To make the strawberry fans, take a sharp paring knife, cut 5-7 slices the length of the strawberry...don't cut all the way through at the top of the berry though, that needs to be intact for the berry to "fan". You want to stop cutting just before you reach the "cap" of the berry. At the top of the berry, lay your knife flat and gently press down to spread or "fan" the berry. Gently lay the strawberry fan on top of the cool whip. For mine, I slit the strawberry at the bottom and placed it on the rim of the jar. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did...it was delish! A heartfelt thank you to all the veterans out there and their families. The sacrifices you've made are what helped make this beautiful country of ours! Have a wonderful 4th of July! Be good and be pretty... and as always... ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ God Bless ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ There's always so much to do around the homestead. I came home from Ma's after helping her with the yard work the other day and Hubby and his brother were sitting at the kitchen table...making plans. They were making plans for a greenhouse/shed. Which ain't a bad idea at all, except I see all these beautiful greenhouses on Pinterest, the ones made out of windows and doors that are just TOO CUTE!! (But something tells me they ain't gonna build it like that.) There was also a plan to build Hubby a workbench/table for his shed. Then there was plans to build a new gate that leads to the backyard...to keep THIS imp inside the fence. Sure, she may look all sweet and innocent but when she jumps the gate and takes off, she gets that wild~eyed~catch~me~if ~you~can look and if you listen close, you can hear her singing ♪♫♪ Freedom ♪♫♪... as she's running away. Then I heard plans of a long running flower~box that was to run the length of the fence in our backyard. So imagine my surprise when I woke up the next morning and they were building this... Which wasn't even ON the list~of~things~to~do. But I love it and I've been secretly wanting one. I think it's beautiful! ღ The fence runs the length of our road. Can't wait to stain it and plant more roses down the fence. We planted about 8-10 already. So just a few more to go. I'm dreaming of a fence covered in roses in a few years, ya know. We'll see how well that works out.I I kept asking Hubby and his brother what I could do to help...their answer?? "Stay out of the way!" I can do that! The next morning, they got started on the gate bright and early. It turned out so pretty. I'm totally in love with it. Still needs to be stained but other that I think it looks great. Here's another pic of the gate after they got it put up...I thought the horseshoe door ~knocker added a nice little touch! They also got Hubby's workbench built...no pic here cuz they already had it piled up with a bunch of tools and junk by the time I got out there with my cam. :) So far, no greenhouse/shed but at the rate they're going... And me? What did I do while I was trying my best to "stay out of the way"? Well, I cooked, I cleaned and did laundry and I ...nahhh just kidding!! I took lots of pics :) and got a few little things painted, I've been wanting to get done, like this old grease~catcher kettle...Painted in a very pale pink. About an hour after I took this pic, Boo ate the yellow daisies...dern dog. Thanks for stopping by!
